The body of missing teenager David Iredale was found in rugged bushland in the Kedumba Valley in the Blue Mountains early this afternoon.
The body has not been formally identified but the search has been suspended and the area roped off for forensic investigation.
The search director, Superintendent Pat Paroz, said the body was dressed in clothes matching those that had been worn by David when he was last seen on December 11.
The body was "in a cave between boulders and trees'', he said, and well off the section of track where David was last seen.
It was in an area that had already been searched during the last nine days.
He said that the boy's parents, Maryanne and Stephen Iredale, of Pymble, had been informed of the discovery.
Seventeen-year-old David, from the Sydney suburb of Pymble, went missing last Monday after becoming separated from two friends when he went to fill up his water bottle as they were bush walking near Mt Solitary.
