The 20 year unbroken run of two presidential dynasties could be about to get longer following yesterday's long-awaited announcement that senator Hillary Clinton - wife of former president Bill Clinton - is running for the White House.
"I'm in," she declared in a video posted on her website, using the internet to declare her candidacy, as did her chief rival, Barack Obama, just a few days before.
According to the polls, Senator Clinton is the Democrats' front-running candidate for the 2008 presidential race. Much of the attention is focused on the fact that Senator Clinton would be the first woman president and that Senator Obama would be the first black president.
