England wallow in it

The Sun has it's say

England wallowed in its shock loss to Australia, the local media accusing their team of snatching defeat from the jaws of a morale winning victory.

"The dismal thing for England fans is the manner of defeat. The batsmen, as Lawrence Booth wrote here, had fear in their eyes," said Guardian commentator Tim De Lisle.

Flintoff plays down Ashes concerns

Martyn's 78 wins him man of the matchMartyn's 78 wins him man of the match

England Captain, Andrew Flintoff has played down Englands six wicket loss to Australia in yesterdays one day Champion's trophy match.

"I'm disappointed," Flintoff said.

"One thing in the build-up to the game was people trying to link it to the Ashes. We took this game in isolation, as a must-win game for both sides to stay in the tournament.

"The Ashes will start in three weeks time when we get to Australia."

"I can assure you we take both forms of cricket seriously. We're a proud team, we want to win a game of cricket," he said, referring to the final Group A tie against holders West Indies.

Is this the balmy army practicing for the Ashes?

NSW Premier Iemma has asked British Prime Minister Tony Blair for London Metropolitan police give NSW the names of known sporting hooligans. "It's about preparing and making sure that there's safety for families and other individuals," Mr Iemma told reporters. "Exchanging intelligence on known sporting hooligans is one way that we are preparing and working to ensure the safety of spectators. "We all enjoy the chanting and singing and (the) presence of the Barmy Army," he said.
