Bradley John Murdoch has failed in an appeal against his conviction and life sentence for the murder of British backpacker Peter Falconio in the Northern Territory outback with the appeal judges describing the murder as cruel, remorseless and completely unprovoked.".
The 48-year-old Broome mechanic was found guilty in December 2005 of shooting dead the construction engineer beside an outback road in July 2001.
The jury also found Murdoch guilty of abducting and assaulting Mr Falconio's girlfriend Joanne Lees near Barrow Creek, about 300km north of Alice Springs.
