Mark Latham described him owned "lock, stock and barrell" by the United States and that was the nice stuff, so who is Kevin Rudd?
Born on the Sunshcoast his character was shaped by the early death of his father at age 11. He grew up in a Catholic family and attended a Catholic school but is in fact a committed Anglican. He has recently argued that faith has to be back by social action to be effective but denied he was trying to “recruit from the pew”.
Not known for his barbecue bonhomie he has made his reputation by hard work, intelligence and always being available to the media.
He is a China speaker and expert, strong supporter of Israel and the USA and globalisation.
A critic of the right but known as a rightist himself.
His attitude on domestic policies is less known, although his time as head of the Cabinet office in Brisbane saw a period of significant reform and change and centralisation of power. He is a conservative on economic issues but there are not many references to his attitude on social issues.
